The Healthy Truth:: What's on your plate?

Happy Friday peeps! I'm getting back into the swing of things with my linky party:
My topic today is "What's on your Plate?" When you are living healthy and trying to meet a goal you may have, I have a few tips I use that help me follow my plan during mealtime.

The food you eat in a meal should be colorful! Ok class, what foods are red?
meat
tomatoes
apples
strawberries
radishes
How about green?
lettuce
broccoli
kiwi
celery
avocados
Orange?
oranges
peaches
mangoes
peppers
cheese
Blue/Purple?
grapes
blueberries
blackberries
red cabbage
plums
Even SOME white is okay:
milk
cheese
yogurt
onion
garlic
chicken
Okay, what are some things that aren't colorful?
chips
cookies
bread
pasta
flour
sugar

see the pattern? I missed some colors, but you get the picture. I want to look at my plate and not only see all the food groups, but also lots of colors!! You can do this in many ways, and I want you to choose your favorite flavorful and colorful foods! Here are some more interesting facts if you aren't already hooked:

What are breads and processed foods rich in? FAT.OILS.PRESERVATIVES.
How do we color our plate? It starts at the grocery store. Shop on  the walls/outer parts of the store. That's where the refrigeration is, and where you will find produce, lean meats, dairy products, eggs, etc. The aisles are homes for everything that has its own preservatives. Before you check out at the store, take a look in your cart and evaluate:
"Do i have colorful food in my cart?"
"Did I shop around the store, and less inside?"
"How much produce did i get, compared to everything else?"
I'm telling ya, it really helps! I hope you found this post interesting!
PERSONAL UPDATE: I have lost 24 pounds so far! And tonight I'm walking my second 5k of the summer! How are you doing with your healthy living goals? I want to hear about your journey! Link up every week so we can encourage each other!!
