This Crazy Week....

wow. this is one of the first weeks in a LOOOONG time i've been this busy! so now i have some catching up to do {blog style}.
First off, I want to {finally} share my Monday Made It! It's a digital product I've been working on for a while, and finally just finished it!
It's my Class Journal Jar! I have created 30 fun, interesting prompts for your kiddos, so that, if needed, each student could write on a different prompt for 6 weeks! I'll be adding some fun-themed add-ons to this soon! This is in my TPT store waiting for you to purchase it! I also included labels in black and white and in color. The border around each prompt is chevron, and I found some ca-ute clipart to make them even better!
Next week I'll have more fun to show you!
Now onto
Monday I discussed my Must-Haves {Here}.
For techie tip tuesday, I have a couple of tips!
Rainy Mood.com is a website you can pull up on your computer and instantly feel like you're surrounded in a rain storm. You can even add a soothing song of the day on top of it! This is a great way to calm down and help focus your students, especially when its been a rough day! The sound of rain is so soothing to me, and it can totally change your room's atmosphere, even if its sunny with a high of 115 degrees outside!
KeepVid is a great resource! Copy/Paste any youtube video link and you can download the video to your computer! No more removed videos or uncensored ads! I use this for presentations, and just to show videos in the classroom!

I am not currently teaching, so I'm skipping to therapy thursday!
One of my top therapies is working out! Though I'm still not where I want to be, I'm working towards it! Not only does it help me do that, it releases all the built-up toxins and just makes me feel so good!
Bubble Baths- ahh!
I puffy heart love tea! It soothes my soul ;) and spending time with friends!
Crafting, Baking, and Cooking are all very theraputic to me!
Serving God and others- spending time with God is the best therapy! Also, serving others gets my mind off of myself and onto someone else!
For Freebie Friday, I put together a mini-version of a new product I'm working on, called Wrist Reminders! Copy and Paste this link to go there!
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByZxBmHQkmCAOXBnTlFVRmdMc1k
For a very long time, kids have been wearing something on their wrists- from plain rubber bands, to LIVESTRONG bands, to friendship bracelets, to silly bands, and more! I have an armband that you will want your students to wear! Tape these on your students' arms for when they need a reminder of something, need to bring back an item to school, or more! That way the kids remember it, and the parents can see it too! I've included four types of bands, with four colors of each. I hope you enjoy!
today is the last day to enter my giveaway! now go!

Flyin, Splat, OHP, and a Package

Hey there bloggy buds! WOW. This week is just FLYIN' by! Though I haven't been crazy busy, each day has been filled up! I can't wait to share my Monday Made Its, but I have to find time to finish them first! I have been failing trying to go to my church's 6 am prayer meetings every day this week. Why I chose the 6 am time, is because i can't squeeze it in any other time I have no idea! Anywho, I'm trying again tomorrow...wish me luck! (I might just have to wear tomorrow's clothes to bed, so I'm motivated to get up!)
So, I tried to make a dessert from Pinterest today for a party and it definitely went SPLAT! Here was my goal...
And my creation...
never existed in pictures. It was THAT bad. I mean not-cooking-the-caramel-long-enough-and-putting-too-much-caramel-on-the-shortbread-so-when-i-cut-it-into-pieces-it-all-fell-apart-and-went-SPLAT bad. So. My next kitchen purchase is a candy thermometer. It all tasted delish- but it looked like a mess. And I'm REALLY not a fan of taking a mess and presenting it in front of a bunch of people, but thats what it had to come to tonight.
I just have to link up to
Here are my OHP finds of the week!
pin // great idea for a wedding or any party!
pin// and this TOTALLY failed me today!!
pin
pin// i thought this was really interesting...something extra to teach our kiddos!
pin ice cube painting!
A special package came in the mail today! It made me SQUEAL with joy! Can you guess what was in it?
* the company's main colors are sky blue and white.
* the company's name is a man's name
* the company gives to a non-profit organization.

YAY!! My first pair of toms shoes came! I have loved the notion of this company since it first started: the vision, the beliefs, and how it helps kids all over the world! So I purchased my first pair for my birthday :). I got red classic toms like these:
The thing is, I got mens size 12. I have big feet. I know. And the length was PERFECT. But the width? notsomuch. unfortunately they're a bit tight in the middle of the foot. My question is
Should I try to wear them for a bit and see if they will stretch out?
or
Exchange them for a bigger size?

Do you have toms? do they stretch? Also, my feet are WIDE and still have quite a bit of water weight on them. So should I keep them and wait to lose more weight for them to fit better? I'm kinda at a loss, and would love your advice!!
I am really behind on Teacher Week, so I'm thinkin I'm going to wait til friday or saturday to get those posts out to ya!
Also. I'VE EXTENDED MY MEGA-GIVEAWAY! Here's the widget in case you don't want to go to the original post.

PS: did you see my updated profile picture up there? that was from my trip to Maine- more pics coming soon!

Teacher Week, Giveaways, and My New Best Friend!

Be forewarned! Long post ahead! Don't forget about the two awesome giveaways I've got going right now!
Hey there bloggy buds! How was your Monday? This week is Teacher Week over at Blog Hoppin!
And I wanted to get in on the Must Haves Monday action!

My ultimate must-have is JESUS! HE is the one who gets us through our best of days and worst of days. Without Him, I am nothing. But with Him, we can be the best teachers that our students need!

Next, my iPhone is definitely a must-have! Pictures, Common Core reference, edu. apps, internet access, Pinspirations, music, and more!
Candles and a Candle Warmer is my third must-have. Atmosphere is a HUGE part of my classroom necessities for me and my students, and candles can really help calm the mood! If you aren't allowed to light candles (or even if you are), you can use a candle warmer like this one to melt the wax without the flame! Plus, it conserves your candle for way longer!
Organizational tools is another biggie! I love organizing, and need to have bins, labels, boxes, a planner, schedules, rosters, and everything in its place! Even though I'm not teaching this year/semester, I bought a planner for myself at Target with Birthday Money! They have the best cheap and cute planners!

A great pencil sharpener! And I found one!
PENCILS. An iconic item that is found in every classroom across the country, and is used every day by students everywhere! Pencils are important, but they are worthless without a pencil sharpener! My question to you is,
"Do you like your pencil sharpener?"
What do you and your students use to sharpen their pencils in your classroom? Do you use the age-old, grimy, mounted ones that are almost impossible to clean? Or maybe you decide to spend some of your precious funds on a nice electric sharpener, that breaks down at least once a week because of over-sharpening and overuse, and constantly gives you a headache? Or are you so fed up with both options, you give each student a pocket sharpener, but end up with pencil shavings all over the room?
To me, none of these are viable options, although each have positive element: the arm crank sharpener has the capacity of sharpening many sizes of pencils, and it doesn't make TOO much noise, the electric sharpener is easy to empty and is relatively quick to use, and the mini sharpeners allow you to sharpen however little or lot you need, and the spread of germs is lessened.
Well, I've found a sharpener that combines ALL of these things, and more! Why? It was made by a teacher for teachers!!
Enter, The Quietest Classroom Pencil Sharpener.

There are TONS of awesome features about this sharpener, but I'm going to start with my FAVORITE.
YOU'RE PENCIL CANNOT BE OVER-SHARPENED!
Yep! I said it! I tried it out, and when the sharpener is done sharpening your pencil, you can keep cranking the arm, but you can tell it doesn't do anything! That means, that student in your class who spends 20 minutes at a time trying to get that PERFECT point, will be done a lot faster when they realize they can't sharpen it any more! This is also great because your pencils won't be wasted! They will last longer!

Here's the thing, though, your sharpener won't come with a handbook! It took some researching to discover how to best use this sharpener. Here's my tutorial for you!

1. Get familiar with your sharpener. Look at the clear box. This is where your pencil shavings fall in. It's great to be able to see when it needs to be emptied! See that hole on the bottom in the front? To stabilize the sharpener, you can fasten it to the edge of a table. Try out the arm crank so smooth and easy! Now look at the top hole in the front. See the teeth? They hold your pencil in place!
2. Insert your pencil. Pull gently on the silver metal piece on the front. You should be able to pull it out a few inches. There is a center metal piece that will keep everything in place. Next, squeeze the two black knobs on top together. Notice how the teeth open! Insert your pencil, while holding the teeth open, as far as it will go. it should go all the way through the opening. Release the teeth, and notice that you no longer have to push in or stabilize your pencil! Release the metal part by lifting up that middle piece.

3. Sharpen! Now turn the arm crank. Feel the pencil being sharpened? if you keep turning it, you should feel the blade no longer hitting the pencil. This means your pencil is sharpened! (Remember! It won't oversharpen your pencil!)
4. Take out pencil and smile! You will take out your pencil just the same way you put it in, but backwards! Pull out metal piece, open the teeth, pull out your pencil, and smile! Why? You have a perfectly sharp pencil!

I love this sharpener! It meets almost all the needs of a basic sharpener in the classroom. It is:
quiet
reliable
easy to use
easy to clean
effective

Though it does the job wonderfully, it does have some negatives:
your pencil will look like VioleBaudelaire (Lemony Snicket Reference :) has gotten to it, as in, it will have little bite marks in it.
It may take more than one time of sharpening to get your pencil sharp. it definitely will if your pencil is brand new.

But overall, I DEFINITELY recommend it! Especially since it's just under $25! Also, if you and two other teachers in your school want to go in on a pack of three together, you will each save $8! What a great deal! Head on over to Classroom Friendly Supplies to get your own must-have pencil sharpener of the year!
Thank you Troy for letting me review your awesome product! These are my own opinions of this pencil sharpener.

Get ready for a fun Monday Made It post tomorrow! You will see clips, tape, clip art, and chevron!
