The Healthy Truth: WHYYYY?????

Tracey, yours has been emailed to you, but Mikee, I need your email! Email me at allieelliott@yahoo.com so I can get yours to you. Thanks for all who commented! You can pick up your copy in my TPT store!!
It's time for...
I'm all about the why. I won't truly commit to something without knowing why I'm doing it. So today I'm sharing the answer to a big WHY in the workout world:
Why does my weight loss depend on strength training as well as cardio?
We all know the key to losing weight is cardio- getting your heart rate up for an extended period of time to burn the calories. But that's not enough! Unless you're doing cardio for at least 2 hours a day, estimating that you burn about 600 calories per hour, you will just be able to burn all the calories you eat in the day, being very health-conscious. THAT is where strength training comes in!
Automatically, your muscles are ALWAYS working. Even while I'm sitting here writing this post. My stomach and digestive system are working to digest the oatmeal I just ate. My hand muscles are working to type this. My back and neck muscles are holding my body up. My heart is pumping blood to the rest of my body. And I'm not even working out!
So your muscles are ALWAYS working, which takes fuel, so they keep burning calories all day long. But, the LEANER and STRONGER your muscles are, the more calories they will burn! THAT is why we need to keep strengthening our muscles! The faster they are able to work, the faster your metabolism is able to burn the calories.
The next time you're at the gym, get started on some weight training! Look back next week for a guide on some basic strength training exercises to try!
One more thing, every week at the end of this segment, I'm going to give you my top 5 workout songs (in no particular order) from the week for you to check out!!
Red by Taylor Swift
And I had to include a Christmas one!!
Link up your posts on healthy living, or share some of your favorite workout tunes!!

Thanksgiving Product GIVEAWAY!

Hey loves! Happy Thursday! Just wanted to pop in and let you know about my newest TPT product!!
30 Days of Thankful:: A Thankful Tree Craftivity
This craftivity teaches your students to be thankful, and why it is important. Every day of November you and your students will find something that you are thankful for, write it on a oval-shaped paper, and hang it on a "tree"- a bunch of tree branches in a vase. Your tree becomes full of thanksgiving by the end of November, and your students learn the meaning of being thankful. You can connect this to Character Education, Thanksgiving the holiday, and the first Thanksgiving of the Pilgrims and Indians! I have laid out the materials and all the instructions and templates for this craftivity in my product.
And guess what? Because I'm thankful for YOU, I'm giving two sets away, so you can get it all set up in your classroom by next week! Leave a lovely note below, and I'll choose two, randomly, tonight at midnight, who will receive it! Just remember to give your email!
Have a lovely day!!!
(oh, and just to give you some delight, STARBUCKS RED CUPS COME OUT IN 8 DAYS!! YIPEE!)

"How Do I..." Pinterest Edition pt. 1

Hey there friends! Time for another
I'm starting a series on being a blogger and Pinterest junkie! Because you know you are! So I'm starting with something that will {hopefully} bring a smile to your face! Did you know you could stalk yourself on Pinterest?
Say WHAT???
You can look to see who has pinned what from your blog onto Pinterest! Can you say, FAMOUS! Oh and by the way, it's incredibly easy too!
All you have to do is copy/paste this into your URL bar:
pinterest.com/source/the-gypsy-teacher.blogspot.com
Keep the green the same.
Change the red to your blog's URL.
And be amazed! Here's what I see:
You'll see a couple pins are my own- as a blogger it's smart to pin your own blog, so you get even MORE people to see your ideas!
Another thing you see on some pins is a watermark. I've started doing this for that very reason, so when people pin my pictures, they know where they come from! (but that's another post in itself)

I hope you have fun stalking yourself and I hope it gives you some excitement, like it did me!
Also, DON'T FORGET about my holiday BLOG SWAP! Click the button to sign up!!

Are you the hostess with the mostess? (BLOG SWAP)

Hi all! I want to get my Blog Swap hoppin!! Instead of just creating a "Fall Swap" or a "Christmas Swap", I'm going to let you and your swapping partner create your own! Here's the theme:
Hostess with the Mostess Blog Swap!!
I love planning and hosting parties, especially during these seasons of autumn and winter! Thanksgiving, Christmas parties, New Years parties, parties in your classroom, etc.! In my mind, you can NEVER have too many parties!! So, for my winter blog swap, I want YOU to link up to the blog hop below, so I can match you up with a bloggy pal. Then, you will receive an email from me with a fun party-themed survey so that your pal can get to know you better, and know what kind of party you want to throw this season. I will then match you up, and you will put together a fun, party-hostess kit for your bloggy pal! Send it off, and receive yours! After you have received your gift, it's time to PARTY!! After being the hostess with the mostess, you get to show off the party kit you received, and the party you threw!

friends and fall- two of my loves!

Hey lovelies! I'm back! So it turned out my laptop's warranty was over in August, OF COURSE. So I had to figure out a way to get a new battery and cord on the cheap, and I did! The guy at Best Buy suggested amazon, and he was right! I ended up getting a new battery and cord that works with my laptop, and it only cost me about $24, with shipping, because I had a $15 gift card! YAY! And BOTH of them arrived today! Double YAY! So I'm officially back in action, and planning a blog swap of the century!
Anywho, while I was out, I got "BOO'ed" by two wonderful bloggers!!
Tori at Tori's Teacher Tips started one of the fun Boo-ing parties in blogville, and here's how it works!!
1.  Give a shout out to the blogger who booed you and link back to their site!

Don't Let the Teacher Stay Up Late Miss V’s Busy Bees
My bloggy buddy, Sara, and new found friend, Melissa (don't you love her blog name! and I feel like most of us teachers are those "night owls!"), booed me! You should definitely check out both of their wonderful blogs! Thanks ladies!!

2. Share 3-5 October activities, books, products (yours or someone else),
or freebie(s) that you love!
Confession: I'm not a fan of Halloween. Dont get me wrong, I love dressing up in costumes and I love chocolate, but the whole Halloween thing, and the history if it, isn't something I'm too keen about. But I LOVE autumn, so my activities are all about FALL!
Fall-Scented Finger Paints! How fun!!

I'm Thankful For... pie craft

3.  Share the Boo love with 5 bloggers- make sure you check this link to make sure you don't boo someone again:
 http://toristeachertips.blogspot.com/2012/10/ive-been-booed-fun-october-linky.html
This is my favorite part!! It's been tough though, because even though you're name isn't on the linky list, you may have been previously booed! I've decided to boo:
Aimee
The Quirky Apple
Steph
Mrs. Plum
Hoot Hoot Hooray!
Ms. Walter
The Tattooed Teacher
Rachel
And don't forget to tell them that they have been BOOED!
4.  Link up {here} so that others can find you and read about your October ideas!  And while you are there... check out the other great blogs!

Alrighty everyone! That's it for me tonight! MAKE SURE you check back tomorrow night for my super fun blog swap! One hint...I hope you like to party!

Sweet Dreams!!

*sad face*

Hey there lovelies!
Super quick post just to let you know I haven't forgotten about you! I've been really busy, and just today my computer battery cord died, along with my actual battery. So tomorrow I go to best buy to find out what the damage is to get new ones. I'll be back with my swap sign up and regular posts as soon as possible!

Currently...Loving Life

So today, I'm getting straight to the point:

I am SOOOOOOOO excited for this weekend!!! Two of my BEST friends are coming into town and I get to see them! I can't wait!

I can't wait for my next traveling adventure- I want to travel the world!
I am desperately in need of a new battery for my computer! We're at the point now that whenever it's disconnected from a power source, it dies immediately- even when it's on standby. SO ANNOYING.
As far as my fall book, last year I read There Was an Old Lady who Swallowed Some Leaves with my firsties, and they loved it! It's super cute, because the old lady swallows everything needed to make a scarecrow. It's GREAT for sequencing and for tons of classroom activities!!

Look for the BLOG SWAP this weekend, and I'd still love a co-host!!!
