Week Recap!

This week has taken over my life! I am so sorry I literally haven't blogged in a week, but I have lots of updates and recaps from the week to share!

Monday was my great-grandmother's funeral. It was hard, and sad, but the better thing is that we know she is in heaven where she is in no pain! I think the most memorable part of the funeral was when the pallbearers had taken her casket out to the hearse, and our family followed them out. As they were driving the casket away we all sang a song that our family has sung for years and years when someone would leave the home: "May the blessing of the Lord be upon you; we bless you in the name of the Lord! May the blessing of the Lord be upon you; we bless you in the name of the Lord!" I was bawling, but it is a memory I will always cherish and remember! Here is a picture of her from several years ago:

Because of the funeral, a bunch of family had come into town, and stayed through Thanksgiving! It was fun to catch up and hang out with them. Plus, my aunt Sarah is an AMAZING cook, and the thanksgiving dinner was DELICIOUS!!

I had big plans to work a total of 13 hours on Black Friday, and I had worked almost every day for the past few weeks beforehand! Unfortunately though, it all caught up to me on Thanksgiving night. I had just finished the delicious Thanksgiving meal, and went to take a nap to refresh me for my first round of Black Friday work. When I went to lay down, I wasn't feeling very good, and had struggled to get to sleep. When I woke up around 9:30, I ended up throwing up, and having flu-like symptoms. It was NOT fun at all. So, obviously, I had to call work and tell them I wasn't coming in. Thankfully I only threw up twice, but had other symptoms all night and all day yesterday (fever, headache, and other unmentionables). I am MUCH better now, and I think it was just a 24-hour bug that I probably caught at work and was more susceptible to because of my long hours, not as much sleep, and all the craziness going on this week.

My November giveaway ended last night and...
a Rafflecopter giveaway
Meg won! I have already contacted you and sent your goodies! Thanks everyone for entering! I'm thinking of having a Bath and Body Works Christmas giveaway soon, so look for that in a couple of weeks!

And a treat for all you teachers out there! Monday and Tuesday my TPT store will be 20% off! And you can get an extra 10% off from TPT! Get your wish lists ready!

Well, that is all for me right now! Family is gone, the dust has settled, and I'm back to almost 100%. I think I'm going to spend the morning with a cup of tea, relaxing by our beautiful Christmas tree we got and lit up last night!

Weekly What, Here and Around the Web!

Hey there friends! Happy weekend! It's been a pretty rough week (see below), so I'm definitely glad it's Saturday! I plan on working a lot this weekend, but it's okay, because my bank account will be happy!
Last night, we had a women's event at my church that I was able to attend, and it was incredible. I just love my Pastor's wife, Kerrie. She speaks with such conviction, and I love all of her sermons. We started off the night with a panel of three women at our church, who shared their testimonies and answered questions about their relationship and walk with Christ. Then we had worship. I am loving the song Oceans by Hillsong United. It's pretty new, and so powerful. After worship, Kerrie spoke on living out this spiritual journey. At the end we were able to just spend some time resting in God's presence and learning to sit and wait for Him to speak. It was just what I needed!
Other than that, this week has been full of work, SNOW (not happy), and the usual. More of this week below.
Here's what happened on the blog this week:

I played along with Sunday Social, and talked about favorite movies, jobs, food, places I've lived, and more.

I shared an easy tutorial on how to get free background music for any video, vlog, etc. you need to do, via Youtube!

I talked more about my missions trip to Colombia, for Travel Tuesday. This time it was about our mission, and things we did there.

I am holding a little giveaway, as well as talked about my new sponsor option! I'd love to have you as a sponsor!

I had a Coffee Date with you all via vlog, and released all my crazy feelings about this week's events: going to the foot doctor, a death in my family, and my awesome secret santa gift this week!

I also finally got caught up on all of my Bloglovin' reading, and here are some posts from other people I loved reading this week:
Coast to Coast Central did a post all about the interesting and helpful uses of lemons, Being a Babe: Lemons! Lemons!

Jenny at Luckeyfrog's Lilypad wrote about How to Make a Teacher's Portfolio that Gets you the Job, which is JUST what I need right now! Her post was awesome!

Julie at Coco and Cocoa made some DELICIOUS-looking Pumpkin Spice Scones , I know Christmas is just around the bend, but fall doesn't end until December 21st, so I definitely need to get these made soon! I could eat Pumpkin Spice-anything all year round!

A Beautiful Mess posted their awesome tutorial on How to Style a Bow Braid! I had never seen this kind of a braid done before, but I love bows and I love braids! It does look a little intimidating, but I may have to try it for the holidays!

Kendra at Simply {Darr}ling did a tutorial on a DIY Scrabble Ornament, which is perfect for my scrabble-loving family!

Chelsea at Sunny with a Chance of Sprinkles whipped up some Crockpot Peppermint Mocha Hot Cocoa, and OH MY, I wanted to drink some on the spot! It's definitely in my back pocket for recipes this Christmas!

What are you most looking forward to this Thanksgiving and Christmas? What was your favorite post this week? Anything new on the horizon for you?
Have a great weekend, everyone!

Sponsor Update + Giveaway!

Happy Thursday All! I hope you're having a great week. I cannot believe in just one week we will be gorging ourselves with friends and family (aka Thanksgiving)! This year is flying by! Anyways, I haven't done a giveaway on this little place of internet space in a while, so check out the end of the post for the Rafflecopter!
~
I love sponsoring blogs! It's such a great way to grow your blog and shop. Not only does it help your blog/shop, you get to make amazing friendships with other bloggers! I started sponsoring other blogs earlier this year and have had my readership go up, and have gotten to know some great bloggers. If you are just starting off your blog, or are in need of something to get you going again, I would definitely suggest sponsoring via swapping ads. All you have to do is set up your ad shop for your blog via Passionfruit, or another service. Then search out blogs that are your same size, a little bigger than you, and ask to swap ads. It's usually free, and great for both of you! Then, I also suggest investing into a couple of really popular blogs that may be similar to your blog type to sponsor (lifestyle, mommy, newlywed, crafting, cooking, etc.). It may cost you some money, but chances are you will earn it back during your blogging future. You can also email those who you want to sponsor and ask for a coupon code. The least they can do is say no! And when you do that, they will usually do some kind of group giveaway or post during the month to help you grow your blog readers too. I love how this blogging world is all about helping each other!

I have played around with my sponsorship options several times in the past few months, and just changed it up again. I have my small ad spot for swaps, so if you would like to swap with me, just use the coupon code GYPSY SWAP, and then email me a code I can use for you! You can do this by heading over to my Sponsor page!
The second option I have right now is the "Student of the Month" spot. It is for one ad a month, and it is more than just time on my sidebar. I will be here for you to email back and forth to ask questions or get advice. I will also give you social media shoutouts, time to do an individual post/giveaway on my blog, and extra large ad space on my sidebar. You can use this time however you would like, so it is great for any blogger or shop owner. I am charging $12 for one month, but you will be my sole advertiser (other than swaps), so I will be able to give you lots of attention! I'd love for you to consider sponsoring me, and you can get all of my stats and more info on my Sponsor page!

If you have any questions, I'd love to clear anything I can up for you about the sponsoring process! It has been a blessing to me as a blogger!
~
Now for the giveaway! I am offering two months of Large Ad Space and a $15 Starbucks Gift Card!

Travel Tuesday: Bogota, Colombia Parte Dos

Welcome to another Travel Tuesday! If you're new around here, read THIS POST for the why and how around this weekly link-up! I'd love to have you link up this week!
Last week I began my mini-series on Bogota, Colombia, which was my first international travel adventure! To start from the beginning, read my Part 1 post from last week! This week I'm going to share more about my mission there with my youth group.
This was the group I went with! We went for 10 days and mainly stayed in the city of Bogota. The interesting part of the city though, is that there is little towns in the big city, and our main ministry location was in a small village called Suba.
Now, if you saw my photos from last post, Bogota is a pretty busy built up city, yet you find these certain pockets of villages with such great poverty. It was very sad and hard to see.
This picture (above) was taken on the roof of the ministry building we went to almost every day.

During our time in Bogota, our main mission was to love on the kids that live in Suba and come to the place we ministered at on a daily basis (I cannot, for the life of me, remember the name now! It was basically a church/school building where kids could come and get a meal, learn about God, and learn things you would learn in school).
This is where we served and had lunch every day. The reason for this safe haven for the kids is because of several reasons. First, the schools in Colombia are private, and usually cost something for the kids to go to school. The parents cannot afford to send their kids to school every day, because they live on little to no income, and a lot of the kids have parents who are involved in drugs. It is really sad, but I'm glad they can come to a safe place and get an education, a meal, and learn about Jesus!

We did a lot of skits and dramas to reach the children in many ways. It was a privilege to lead them to Christ!
We spent months together as a team learning about the culture, and dramas, Spanish worship songs, etc. to prepare for our mission. One of my favorite songs we learned in Spanish was Mighty to Save by Hillsong.
Of course, we also had so much fun with the kids, playing soccer, teaching them "Stomp", and just loving on them!
We even spent a couple of afternoons shampooing lice out of the children's hair. Unfortunately, with their living conditions, the lice most likely reentered their scalp, but it was mostly a labor of love, to show them how much we (and Jesus) love them!
We got to help make bread for the meals, which was so fun! Speaking of food, the cooks were AMAZING. We never went hungry, and the food was so delicious! We were very blessed!
Well, I think I'm going to stop there for today. Next week my post will be all about the KIDS! They were my favorite part of the trip, and I just loved being able to step outside my comfort zone and bubble and experience a different culture and people!

Have you ever been to South America or Colombia?! Where is your favorite place to travel?

Travel Tuesday: Bogota, Colombia, Parte Uno

Hello friends! I've got to say that this link-up pushes me to post every Tuesday, which is really good! I hope you will join me this week- your post can be anything from a destination to your bucket list, some tips and tricks to a photo dump! I host Travel Tuesday every Tuesday, so we can all take adventures to far off places!
My two international travels have been the most adventurous, fun, inspiring, heartbreaking, and God-breathed experiences of my life. I have yet to attempt to put into type on this blog these travels, because they are almost larger than life to try to break down and explain. But today, I decided to share one part to my first missions trip to Colombia. This part is just about the gorgeous scenery, culture, and my first thoughts about the city of Bogota and the country.

I absolutely LOVED the bright mix of colors from this South American country. It rains a lot, because Bogota is in the mountains, and has quite mild temperatures. One this is for sure, you want to make sure you bring layers to Bogota, but the rain just makes the colors more intense and beautiful!

We stayed in a great gated evangelical church compound in the city, and we had to climb tons of stairs every day! BUT, the mini-workout was way worth it for the incredible view of the city, especially this landmark of a spectacular architectural church! The city of Bogota is BIG, but if you do go without a group, make sure you search out the right part of town to stay, because there are some not-so-safe neighborhoods.

Again with those mountain views! I just can't get enough of this gorgeous backdrop.

Graffiti is EVERYWHERE there. It is definitely a form of art! I loved all the colors and art they create, and I loved that art in the left corner, where the boy looks like he's sitting in a window sill. I can definitely appreciate this unexpected form of art!

This is Colombia's version of the ding-ding man. We found him at a nearby park, and this was about day 8? out of 10, and we were missing the US. This ice cream was delicious, and it was fun to support his little business!

Traffic is always C-RA-ZY. So different from the states. As a whole, this country is very relaxed. Don't worry if you are an hour late, because you're still probably early!!

As you can tell, this place is one of the favorites I've been to, and I can't wait to share more next week!.
