My Spring Essentials

Hello lovelies! As spring is finally here (it's still on its way to Nebraska), I have decided to share some of my favorite things I love in the springtime. I love this time of year, don't you?!

Spring Essentials 2014

Music: I have loved Ingrid Michaelson for years, and I just found out she's coming out with a new album April 15th! I love her sound - it's indie, with a light and airy feel...perfect for spring! I love listening to her Pandora station.

Handbag: Spring is SO inspirational. So, when I'm going out and about, I love bringing my camera with me for whenever inspiration strikes! I love camera bags, or bags with enough room for my camera. The bag pictured above is similar to a vintage carry-on bag I purchased in the fall, and it'll be great for spring!

Lipstick: Winter is finally over, and it's time to break out the bright-colored lipsticks! The one pictured is in the Maybelline Vivids collection, called Pink Pop! It's such a gorgeous pinky-purple color, and it just makes me think of spring.

Umbrella: What is that saying?! "April showers bring May flowers." I'm prepared for all of the lovely April showers with this unique umbrella! It pictures a Degas ballerina painting. This umbrella has sentimental value, as I received it for my high school graduation from my childhood dance teacher, who surprised me by showing up to my graduation party! I always get so many compliments on it too. I think making a statement with something like an umbrella makes the dreary days so much more colorful.

Shoes: I'm loving all things nude and wedge this spring! These wedges are so perfect! I love the cutout design, and they are just the right look to dress an outfit up or down for spring. I really want this pair!

Nail Polish: I love pretty pastels on my nails for spring! This blush-colored polish is very sophisticated, yet fun and girly in the same way! I also love the Mint Sorbet color in the Sally Hansen Extreme Wear collection.

So those are some of my spring must-haves (and wants!!). Let me know what your spring essentials are down in the comments! And if you love these items as much as I do, click on the links below the picture to go to my Polyvore page and purchase the goodies from there! Happy Spring!!

JAdore Vox Box

Last month I received the #JAdoreVoxBox from Influenster complimentary of my reviews and opinions! I have had the chance to use all of the products, and am giving you the 411 on these wonderful products today!

1. KISS Looks So Natural Eyelashes
This had only been my second time using fake lashes, but these were wonderful! The style I received was "Sultry". What makes these lashes different from the rest is they have tapered ends, so that they look more natural and blend in with your eyelashes. I definitely feel that they did so, and just added a little pop to my look.

2. Red Rose Simply Indulgent Teas
I received 4 tea bags of the Simply Indulgent line of teas by Red Rose Teas, and I really enjoyed them! I received 3 Crème Caramel, and one Lemon Chiffon. I loved the delicious taste and satisfaction of the Crème Caramel. It tasted like a caramel tea latte, when I added some half and half! They also sent me a coupon to use too. I really want to try the Cinnamon Streusel flavor next!

3. Hershey's Kisses Milk Chocolate
I love my chocolate, and the Kisses are a great standby! I love the creamy milk chocolate flavor, and how they are travel-friendly! They make a great afternoon pick-me-up and I love the ones that come out around Valentine's Day, because they make festive home decorations as well!

4. Boots Botanics Shine Away Ionic Clay Mask
This was one of my favorite products in this box, because I love trying out new face masks! This face mask is AWESOME! It's very easy to apply, dries onto your face quickly, and pulls out all of your impurities! I love putting this on before I shower at night, because it can get pretty messy removing it, and then let my face rest overnight, and it looks amazing in the morning! It is a wonderful mask, and I think it is great for all skin-types! I definitely recommend picking this one up!
5. John Frieda Frizz Ease 3-Day Straight Flat Iron Spray
This is a really effective way to keep your hair looking sleek and straight! You spray this hair product into damp hair, blow dry, and then flat iron to keep your hair straight. Now, I really don't struggle with getting straight hair, because mine is naturally straight. But I LOVED how my hair didn't get frizzy or all over the place! It also stayed straight through ponytails and sleep, which is very impressive!

Overall, I loved this Vox Box! I definitely would recommend all of these products, especially if you love face masks, chocolate, and tea like me! You can check out more of my thoughts on my social media! Again, thank you to Influenster for these products!

Sunday Social!

Hi everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful weekend First of all, before we get into what I have planned for today, do me a favor and go sign up to help with my BLOGIVERSARY giveaway! There are options for all budgets, and you can also enter the giveaway even if you help! Thank you! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1w2SulmyiIfJ1OXevzFIy2iueZ8quKBzlwmdhr4aIERY/viewform

Alrighty! It's time for another Sunday Social! I haven't done one of these in a while, and I thought it would be fun! Let me know your answers to these questions in your own blog post or in the comments below! I'd love to see them!

1. Top 3 things you cant go a day without doing
Checking Social Media -- I mean, who doesn't?!
Listening to Music -- I love to listen to music when I'm en route on the bus, jammin' out in the mornings, and of course all day long at work.
Put on lip balm/stick/gloss -- it's a must, especially because my lips get dry SO quick! There was a day where I had to work all through the night, then went to sleep all day, and by the time I got up from sleeping, my lips were impenetrable using my favorite lip balm! My favorite lips products right now are the NYX Butter Gloss in Éclair, and C.O. Bigelow My Favorite Lip Balm.

 2. 3 things that scare you the most
I don't like to talk about my fears, but if I'd have to say one thing, I'm scared of scary movies! I'm a total baby when it comes to things like that. I do not like scary movies!

 3. 3 places you want to see before you kick the bucket
Paris, France (where I've always wanted to go)
Riga, Latvia (my heritage)
THE WORLD!!

The Healthy Truth: Satisfy your Cravings, Healthily

Hey everyone! Today's post is another one about healthy living, called The Healthy Truth! I am on the road to being healthy and losing weight and have had quite a lot of bumps along the way. This journey has had it's ups and downs, but I am determined to be a healthier me!

Anyway, today's post is about something that's really important to me, when trying to lose weight. I have always heard "No ______" (fill in the blank with what you crave most often). For me, it's "No Sweets". Well, if you crave it, your body wants it! So, if I didn't satisfy that craving healthily, it would, at some point, break me, and I'd head to my nearest drugstore and pick up a bag of candy. Not that I wanted to do this, or would recommend it, I'm just being real.

So, instead of totally negating my craving for something sweet, this time around I'm acknowledging my want, and satisfying it with something healthy. That's my tip. No matter if you want sweet, salty, carbs, etc. try researching a couple healthy alternatives! So, since my weakness is sweets, I'm going to share some of my healthy options today!

1. Favorite Fruits

http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=HhE73hjBVFRoWM&tbnid=UKq8kel4m0OfAM:&ved=0CAYQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.secretlyhealthy.com%2Fpear-juicy-and-sweet-fruit%2F&ei=4WMqU7GEMarQ2wWn-IB4&bvm=bv.62922401,d.b2I&psig=AFQjCNHKXBQ83K35XMENibLdTPM4mMfMoA&ust=1395373380723149

This seems like an obvious choice, but fruit contains natural sugars that satisfy those sweet cravings. When you're choosing which fruit to buy, think about what you will want to eat. For me, I love grabbing a banana on my way out the door, cutting up pears for a mid-afternoon snack, and I go through those six-cup packs of natural applesauce weekly. Another great grab-and-go snack is anything from the Simply Balanced fruit snacks line at Target. There are the fruit snack pieces, fruit strips, twists, etc. They are super good for you, if you're tired of the same old thing.

2. Sweet Potato
I have a thing for sweet potatoes right now. They are full of nutrients for your body, yet very sweet! They are a superfood, and they taste great too. There are several ways I like to eat sweet potato: I'll cut them into bite-size chunks and roast them in the oven with some salt pepper and EVOO, I love them in chips (check the ones below as a healthy option!), and mashed, they're pretty delish!

3. Honey/Truvia
You didn't think it would all be fruits and veggies, did you?! Because I know I can't live like that before craving something a little different. I am a major tea and coffee drinker, and usually go for Sugar in the Raw. But if I'm feeling a little bit healthier, I go for honey or Truvia (a sweetener from the Stevia plant). Now, the thing about sweeteners, is having it be balanced. Don't sprinkle it over every single meal, but a little bit in your morning drink of choice isn't a horrible thing!

via
4. Peas and Carrots
What? It's a childhood classic, but both are so sweet, they are great for satisfying the sweet tooth! I grab a bag of frozen peas, cut up some carrots, and either sauté them or even just boil them! It's so easy, and it's a filling and yummy afternoon snack!

http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&docid=nNQMOa7jZL1bsM&tbnid=ii-W0uQdYISZZM:&ved=0CAYQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.custommade.com%2Fpeas-love-carrots-85-x-11-illustration-print-by-bu%2Fby%2Fbuckandlibby%2F&ei=vqkrU-72C4PZkQfz5YCABw&bvm=bv.62922401,d.eW0&psig=AFQjCNFlSkJJ1wcF0EVjXxn90r-PmUYZbg&ust=1395456781021557
via

Now, here's a tip: blend a banana with a favorite berry, freeze it, and you get a healthy sorbet! Perfect for those days when you're craving ice cream!

My Newest Obsession

I don't know about you, but I have a love/hate relationship with online shopping. Sometimes, I love the great deals, extra sizes/colors, and ease of shopping online, yet other times I avoid it at all costs as you have to figure in shipping costs, not being able to try it on, and having to WAIT for it! Well, although what I'm sharing with you really doesn't help cross out any of my "hates" about online shopping, it makes things a bit easier on the wallet, and it's really fun! My newest obsession is... HauteLook!
"Acquired by Nordstrom in March 2011, HauteLook is a place where you'll discover thousands of the top fashion and lifestyle brands at amazing savings. Each day at 8 AM Pacific, shop new sale events featuring the best names in women's and men's fashion and accessories, beauty, kids' apparel and toys, and home décor at up to 75% off. Membership is free and everyone is welcome." - The HauteLook website

HauteLook is AWESOME for those of us who don't want to break the bank, yet want to add some statement and new pieces into our wardrobes. HauteLook carries all kinds of higher end brands in the categories of: Women's fashion, Men's fashion, Kids fashion, Home, and Beauty. They also have a section from Nordstrom Rack.

What I also love about HauteLook is that the items change all the time! The collections are only on there for a couple of days, and there are new things introduced daily into the site! You can opt in to emails to make sure you don't miss a favorite brand, too! I love that HauteLook also has beauty as well as fashion, making some of those higher-end beauty brands affordable too!

One of my online shopping pet peeves is when the site is not organized properly or doesn't keep it clean and fresh. HauteLook, on the other hand, is a BREEZE to navigate, and their large pictures makes it super easy to see what you're getting. I'm a GIANT fan!

HauteLook also offers free shipping on orders over $100, and they even have an iPhone app! I'm always on the site checking out the new deals they offer. Oh wait, did I tell you the best part?! Everything on the site has been sizably marked down in price! A lot of items are even HALF OFF! For example, they have Juicy Couture up right now in the Women's section (one of my favorite brands!!)...
This dress, the Deco Waves Silk Dress, usually retails for $198. But you can get it on HauteLook right now for $99! That's 50% off! What a deal!

As you all know by now, I LOVE a great deal, especially when it's something of higher quality! So, no matter whether you are looking for some great pieces to add into your (or your significant other's) spring fashion, wanting to dress you kiddos in cute clothes, are ready to add some unique pieces into your home, or want to try out beauty products at a more affordable price point, HauteLook is for YOU!

Get ready for my current obsession to be your newest obsession! Oh, by the way, signing up is FREE! So head on over and do some spring shopping!
