Ingredients
1 cup flour
1 cup oats
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 bag Kraft Caramels
5 Tbls. evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
2. Mix the base together
Cream the butter and sugar. You can do this by hand, but I prefer the mixer, because it makes it much easier!
Add the dry ingredients
Mix until the dough forms.
3. Press most of the base into a 9x13 pan, just until it covers the bottom. Leave enough of it to sprinkle over the top.
4. Bake base in the oven for 10 minutes, until light golden brown.
5. Mix up the caramel mixture.
You can do this while the base is baking! For the caramels, I like to use the Kraft caramel bits, because you don't have to unwrap them, like the regular caramels! Put caramels into a microwave-safe bowl, and add evaporated milk.
Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between, until the caramels are completely melted, and everything is smooth.
6. Layer the bars.
Once the base is out of the oven...
Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the base. NOTE: it is fine if the base is still warm! It's going back into the oven no matter what!
Then cover chocolate chips with the caramel.
Use the rest of the base to crumble on top
7. Bake 15-20 minutes, until the crumble is golden brown.
