Splendid Swap Party Reveal!

Hello lovely people! Today I have a very exciting post. At least it's super exciting for me! Earlier this month I signed up to do a fun little blog swap called the Splendid Swap Party!! The theme for this first round was Summertime Favorites.

I got paired up with the lovely Jessica! She has a fantastic blog called Beyoutiful Beauty. You must go check out her blog and say HI! because she is awesome and I love her recommendations! I especially love her lips of the day series, to fuel my lip product obsession!!

She and I have been chatting it up all month long via email and have gotten to know each other pretty well (at least, as well as we can without actually meeting each other in person!). The crazy thing is, we have SO much in common! We're less than two months apart in age, both live in the midwest, are avid readers and love a lot of the same things, even down to the makeup brands (Maybelline for the win!!)! We both love Starbucks, makeup, and chocolate too. You guys probably know by now that I'm pretty much obsessed with Paris, France and have to go there soon, and she went a few years ago and loved it! We both had Paris-themed bedrooms as teenagers too! So, anyways, we definitely became friends fast!!

After getting to know each other, we sent each other a box of summer goodies! If you want to check out what I gave Jessica, make sure you check out her blog post about it today too!

I was so excited to get my package from her! She hit it out of the park with everything she gave, and I can't wait to show you! So here's what I got:
A delightful note!
A relaxing face mask!
Two nail polishes!
A candle that smells amazing!
And the coaster with a black and white picture of Paris and the Eiffel Tower!

Twizzlers are one of my favorite summer treats! They are perfect because they don't melt, and they are great to munch on! She got me the Blood Orange Mojito scented candle from Target, and it smells DELICIOUS! I've already started burning it in my bedroom and I love it.

I love the colors of nail polishes she got me! The pink one is going on my nails next! I love the mint green color too! And the face mask will be a nice treat!

My favorite part of the swap package, though, was this coaster! Jessica had gone to Paris seven years ago, and purchased the coaster there. It was so sweet of her to pass it on and give it to me! I love the picture, in it's gorgeous vintage glory. Every time I see it I think of how much I want to go there and I think of Jessica! I literally squealed when I opened this part. It was so thoughtful!

So, thank you Jessica for this fabulous swap! I had SO much fun getting to know you and will continue to do so! I'm glad we've become friends, and I am thankful that the Splendid Swap Party brought us together! If you're ever in Omaha, we'll have to get together for sushi and meet in real life!

Once again, make sure you go visit Jessica's blog and follow her! You'll love her! I'm so glad I did this swap! Thank you to all the hosts for putting this on! It was definitely a success in my book!

Beauty Hack: Princess Hair

As a little girl, did you ever fantasize about being a Disney princess? I did! I always wanted to be some sort of a princess. And although I can't wear frilly and sparkly dresses every day (though I totally would if I could), I've found a beauty hack so that we can have, what I like to call, Princess Hair!

This hairstyle tutorial is very easy, and can be done on anyone with medium to long hair! It is best done with some curl to your hair, but I'm sure you could make straight hair work too! The key to this style is splitting your hair into two pony tails, that looks like one big one in the end. It makes for a gorgeous updo perfect for work, a night out, or shopping with the girls! Everyone will envy your beautiful long locks! And even you ladies with thin hair can pull it off, just remember the T's: Tease and Texturize!

I hope you found this beauty hack helpful! If you try it out yourself, make sure to tag me on Twitter or Instagram @allieelliott! I love seeing your recreations!

Healthy Summer Meals part 1

Hi friends! I hope you're having a fabulous week! Before we get into this post, make sure you check out my last post and enter my giveaway for my Summer Staples! There are all sorts of goodies headed to one lovely reader, so make sure you enter! Thanks!

Anyways, today I'm starting a new blog series for the summer! I'm trying to lose some weight this summer and get healthier, so I've been wanting to try out some new healthy meals that are a little different from the norm. So I picked up a little box mix called "Suddenly Salad" last week at Walmart, and whipped up a delicious healthy dinner! This specific mix was for a southwestern grain salad. Basically you boil a bag of grains with all sorts of things in it to cook the grains, then mix up the vinaigrette and combine the two. Voila! A delicious salad! I took it a bit further for today's post for a full-on meal! So let's get started!
I used:
one chicken breast
Suddenly Grain Salad Southwest Grains

I started by cutting up the chicken breast into bite-size pieces and sautéed it with some oil, salt, pepper, and a little bit of garlic powder for flavor!

While cooking the chicken, I boiled the bag of grains that came in the box mix. It was really cool, because all of the grains and veggies were in this mesh bag that stays enclosed until it's done cooking!

While everything else is cooking away, I whipped up the vinaigrette that came in the box. It gives you all the instructions on the back, and it's very easy!

Once the grains are done cooking, you strain out the water and run the bag under cool water and let it all drain out.

Then, cut the bag and dump all of it's goodness into the bowl that has the vinaigrette and stir so the vinaigrette coats the grain mixture.

Add in the chicken!

And stir it al up! Here's a peek at the nutrition facts of this grain salad mix! Not too shabby!

Enjoy! This is a really delicious mix, I gotta say! You can eat it warm or cold, I prefer cold because it's super refreshing!

The box says that it has 4 servings, so to make sure I stuck to that, before I dug into the deliciousness I put the other three servings away so I wouldn't be tempted to eat it all! It also made for a great lunch the next day!

And we're done! It was the perfect healthy dinner that is light yet still gives you nutrition and it's super tasty!

I hope you guys liked seeing this healthy summer meal! I really want to try the other Suddenly Grain Salad flavors too! Let me know if you try this out and make sure you tag me on Instagram or Twitter if you do @allieelliott! Also, if you want to see a specific healthy meal from me, let me know in the comments! I love trying new things!!
